Coaches Clearance Checklist
On behalf of the MacDonald High School community, welcome to the Condor family! Below you will find the information to be cleared through the Santa Clara Unified School District as well as information regarding schedules, bus requests, expenses, fundraising and more.

Coach Applications

Volunteers must complete the SCUSD Volunteer Application on the Volunteer webpage.

New SCUSD employees must complete "Steps 1-4" below and current or returning coaches must complete "Steps 3-4."
Step 1 - Fingerprinting
Please contact Maribel Lopez to set up an appointment for fingerprinting. Please identify yourself as a prospective MacDonald High School coach. Fingerprinting is not transferable between districts.
Step 2 - Required Documents
- TB Test
- I9 Documents
- Social Security Card
You need to have a copy of your TB test clearance on file at the district office. You can go into your medical provider and they are relatively simple to get. If you go to any clinic (Minute Clinic, Wellness Mart - they are also easy to schedule). If you have questions about transferring recent TB test results, please contact our HR department.
In addition, you must submit your social security card and I9 tax documents.
All documents must be returned to Maribel Lopez.
Step 3 - NFHS Classes (bold must be completed)
- Create an account at https://nfhslearn.com
- With your preferred email: create an account, username and password.
- Once you have created your account, you will have access to many coaching courses. Though some have a fee, most are free. The CIF requires one course, and our district requires some other completed courses (see below):
Required Classes
Fundamentals of Coaching - Completion of this course is good for life. This course is for all head coaches and is long, so please plan ahead. Please contact Karen Allard (kallard@scusd.net) for a code to pay for the “Fundamentals” class.
First Aid, Health and Safety - Offered on the site, but can be taken multiple places, including: within our district, the YMCA, etc. Please make sure that you complete the First Aid & CPR components from outside agencies and upload a copy of the card.
Heat Illness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion, Covid Awareness (free class).
Optional Free Classes

- Sportsmanship,
- NCAA Eligibility
Step 4 - Upload Certificates
Upon completion of each course, the NFHS provides you a certificate of completion. Please email those completed certificates to both Maribel Lopez and Darrin Garcia. Make sure that you include your CPR/First Aid Certificate as well.
