Administrative Team
Nelson Hori
Nelson Hori is honored to be appointed as the Principal of Kathleen MacDonald High School and he is extremely excited to be serving this amazing school community. It is his utmost intention to support the mission and vision of this school to foster a fully inclusive environment that nurtures both the educational and interpersonal development of our students. As Principal, Nelson is dedicated to working collaboratively to build upon the strong foundation that has already been established at Kathleen MacDonald High School.
With over 21 years of experience as an educator, Nelson has had the opportunity to serve in a handful of different roles in Santa Clara Unified School District. His first 14 years were spent as a science teacher at Cabrillo Middle School, where he helped develop the curriculum and structure of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute. This was followed by three years as a Vice Principal at Cabrillo and four years as a Vice Principal at Santa Clara High School. In these roles, he has supported Special Education, 504 plans, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), discipline, attendance, technology, and Title IX investigations, just to name a few.
Born in Hawaii and raised in the Bay Area, Nelson attended SJSU, where he received his Bachelors degree, his Masters degree in Administration and Supervision with an emphasis in Educational Leadership, and his Administrative Services Credential. He looks forward to working with students, staff, and families to create a supportive, dynamic environment where all members of the community are empowered to thrive. In his free time, Nelson enjoys traveling, camping, hiking/jogging, surfing and snowboarding with his wife and two teenage sons. He is excited to embark on this next chapter to inspire students and staff to reach their full potential.
Principal

Dr. Terry Flora
Dr. Terry Flora is honored to be part of the founding Vice Principal team at Kathleen MacDonald High School. He was born and raised in Santa Clara, and attended SCUSD schools throughout his childhood. He has been in education for over 16 years and has served students and families in a variety of capacities.
Dr. Flora began his education career serving students and families in the Campbell Union High School District. He began as a high school social science teacher before moving into school administration as a Dean of Students and then as an Assistant Principal. He spent a year working at San Jose State University as a researcher, a lecturer for the teaching credential program, and also as a project manager for a teacher professional development program focused on English learner support strategies. Dr. Flora then moved to Santa Clara Unified School District as a site administrator. While at SCUSD, Dr. Flora has served as a Vice Principal for Santa Clara High School, High School Summer School Principal, and Principal at Cabrillo Middle School.
Dr. Flora, a first generation college graduate, earned his B.A. in Social Science at San Diego State with an emphasis on obtaining a teaching credential. During this time earning his B.A., he spent two semesters traveling to various parts of the world while living on a ship as part of the study abroad program, Semester at Sea. His time abroad allowed him to learn about various world cultures, experience many adventures, and helped to shape his path as a professional educator. Dr. Flora earned his M.A. in Education from San Jose State, and then obtained his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership as part of the first doctoral cohort from San Jose State.
Dr. Flora enjoys spending time with his family, watching his daughters play sports (soccer and softball), and getting out to play golf whenever possible.
Vice Principal

Lauren Kelly
Lauren Kelly has over 25 years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from San Francisco State University. She also earned Master's degrees in Secondary Education and Educational Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Ms. Kelly comes to MacDonald from within the school district, where she currently serves as principal at Cabrillo Middle School. Before joining SCUSD, she was a teacher and athletic director for six years and then gained administration experience as an assistant director of educational services, K12 pathway coordinator, high school principal, and middle school vice principal. She has provided leadership and guidance in curriculum and instruction, community engagement, finance and compliance, and professional development.
In her free time, Ms. Wang enjoys spending time with her own two children, her dogs, and her family and friends.
Vice Principal

Jean Wang
Jean Wang joins MacDonald High School as the Vice Principal of Student Activities. Ms. Wang brings a wealth of experience, having dedicated 21 years to the Cupertino Union School District. During her time there, she spent the last 10 years in administration, inclduing five years as the Principal of Cupertino Middle School.
A proud local, Ms. Wang was raised right here in San Jose, and is a graduate of Lynbrook High School. She earned a BA in Political Science from UC San Diego and furthered her education with an MA in Education Leadership from San Jose State University.
Throughout her career, Ms. Wang has been dedicated to creating inclusive environments, where students feel connected and supported. She is passionate about the positive impact extracurricular activities have on student development, leadership skills, and overall well-being, and is committed to MacDonald High as being the hub of your child's high school experience.
In her free time, Ms. Wang enjoys spending time with her own two children, her dogs, and her family and friends.
